Who are we: Coombs (Canterbury) Limited is a Construction Company based in Canterbury, Kent, established in the 1960’s by our founder Mr Rodney Coombs. The company was acquired through an MBO by its current directors, and is managed from our offices in the centre of Canterbury.
Coombs is a traditional Contractor and Builder operating in Kent, East Sussex and South East London. We have many repeat Clients including Kent County Council, Medway Council, Bexley Council, Pfizer, Halifax, Abbey National, Housing Associations, Local Schools and Colleges, Prison Service, Kent Police, National Trust, Diocesan Board and many others.
The company employs approximately 60 staff and operatives in our Canterbury Offices and on our sites, many of whom live in the area and have been with the Company for a number of years. We believe we are well qualified, well equipped and suitably experienced to meet the demands of our Clients and their Professional teams.
Where are we: Our construction business is managed from Canterbury office, located adjacent to the Wincheap roundabout on the A28 in Canterbury.
What do we do: Our core business is operating as Principal Contractor on projects up to £5,000,000. This type of work accounts for 80% of our annual turnover. This is dealt with by our major contracts department. The Company has a Small Works Department which provides a service to the local community for small building works up to the value of approx. £200,000. This includes private, commercial and industrial clients. The Company is approved by Kent County Council’s Service Desk and is also on the approved list of a number of Insurance Companies and Loss Adjusters, which are all serviced by this department. We have extensive listed building experience and are sympathetic to the specialist requirements of this type of work. The Church Commissioners are clients at both Lambeth and Canterbury Palaces along with The National Trust in various locations.
